St Vincent College was established as an open access community Sixth Form College in September 1987 as the result of a reorganisation within the Gosport area of two 11-18 schools and two 11-16 schools. It was anticipated that the College would ultimately attract 450 full-time students.
However, the College has been extremely successful and has grown substantially beyond expecations, since we became incorporated in April 1993. In 2004-2005 we have approximately 1,200 full-time students (mainly 16-19) and a similar number of adults enrolled on a range of Adult Education, Outreach and Basic Skills learning programmes.
Our open access policy means we can offer students a learning programme, regardless of their prior educational achievements. We enrol students onto a wide range of learning programmes, including Advanced and AS Level, AVCE, NVQ, GCSE and GNVQ. Our Learning Support Unit runs Prep and Bridging courses for students with severe and moderate learning difficultie, many of which are accredited at Level 1 and Entry Level.
