The Sixth Form College Farnborough is a wonderful place to work and study. It is one of the top performing sixth form colleges in the country, committed to building upon its reputation as a distinguished provider of the highest quality academic and vocational education.
At Farnborough, we have one shared objective for all staff: to improve students’ achievements. We like our students here, and seek to work with them to gain success. Students are engaged in their subjects by talented teachers, inspired to enjoy studying in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support.
Central to the ethos of the College is pastoral support through a team of specialist Personal Tutors, all experienced and successful teachers. There is strong participation in a wide range of enrichment activities. Students are involved in a variety of sports with College teams and individuals competing at county and national level; there is a rich tradition of performing arts using the facilities of the purpose-built Prospect Theatre, with strong music, dance and drama. The Student Association committee oversees a large number of clubs and societies, providing an important opportunity for leadership and team-work.
The College has a reputation for innovation and enquiry in both teaching and learning. Farnborough students can apply for Travel Scholarships to undertake individual challenges abroad, and all are encouraged to participate in educational visits. In recent years, students have travelled to China, Japan, Ghana, Costa Rica, Kenya, Outer Mongolia, New York, Los Angeles, Washington as well as many European destinations including Denmark, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Poland.
